South Park and Kak

Short description

These two viruses have little in common, except for the fact that they were both the subject of press releases by anti-virus vendors in the aftermath of the Love Letter VBS e-mail worm...

South Park was presented as a dangerously widespread worm, while in fact it is a very obscure, almost never seen in the wild, executable.

KAK was presented as a new dangerous virus by some anti-virus companies on May 12, 2000 while in fact it was discovered more than a month before VBS.LoveLetter. In addition this virus does not have the potential to spread has much as some other e-mails worms because it relies on a security bug in Outlook which has now been patched by Microsoft.

These viruses present no special danger and are detected by most anti-virus.
